As Chairman of Ofer Global, he oversees the group’s private portfolio of international businesses active in maritime shipping, real estate and hotels, technology, banking, energy and large public investments, with over 30,000 employees in 15 locations across the globe.
These include its shipping division, Zodiac Group, which he established in the 1970s alongside his father, the late Sammy Ofer KBE, and built into one of the world’s largest privately held shipping fleets, operating today a diversified fleet of over 180 vessels worldwide, before leading the group’s diversification into real estate and its other sectors.
In addition to Zodiac, Ofer Global comprises Global Holdings Group, a property holding conglomerate with over 10 million square feet of real estate, specialising in large-scale office buildings, hotels and luxury residential developments. Properties include the iconic 15 Central Park West in New York and landmark commercial buildings such as 120 Park Avenue and Sea Containers in London.
The group’s O.G. Energy division has interests including renewable energy projects focused on wind, solar and forestry, and is a global leader in the provision of FSO and FPSO units through Omni Offshore Terminals.
In 2017 Eyal launched O.G. Venture Partners, a single LP Venture Capital fund focused on investing in early-growth-stage technology startups, demonstrating his long-standing support for tech entrepreneurs.
The group also has significant financial investments which include strategic stakes in both public and private companies, as well as select private equity, debt market and hedge fund investments. These include NYSE-listed Royal Caribbean Group, the world’s second largest cruise line, and Bank of Mizrahi Tefahot Ltd, one of Israel’s largest banks.
Eyal has served on the board of Royal Caribbean Group since 1995. In 2014, he was given the honor of a lifetime membership of the Baltic Exchange in London in recognition of his contribution to the maritime industry. In 2018, he was appointed to the global advisory board of the Bloomberg New Economy Forum.
In conjunction with his business interests, Eyal is a highly committed philanthropist, building on his family’s legacy of charitable giving and support. Today, through the Eyal & Marilyn Ofer Family Foundation, he supports a range of charitable causes and institutions focusing primarily on education, healthcare and the arts. These include hundreds of scholarships through the group’s Foundation and various business divisions.
